Perry and Finetti and Ellery Oh My

Alex Perry, Nicola Finetti and Ellery were showing last night and all three, as expected were amazing. I think Perry certinaly stole the limelight for the day and may very well take the crown for the week, but Nicola Finetti and Ellery also didnt dissapoint.

Day 2 - more and more

Day 2 - I know that every fashion blogger in town is doing the daily rundown of who has shown and who's hot and blah blah blah. So I'll give less of a running commentary, and more of a visual snapshot of what I think the best looks were and what I think are the most inspirational to me.

love lisa.

Lisa Ho's Spring/Summer 2010 collection was made for me... the feminine, soft drapes, the natural based colour palette with shocks of bright colour and organic prints and the clean, minimalistic elegance. I was surprised actually at the closeness it has to some of the designs I have been sketching for my collection, its not the same, no no, but I think I have a similar aesthetic in mind.

The week has begun..

So its that time of year again, when everyone in Sydney goes a bit gaga over fashion! Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is in its 15th year this year, which is great for Australian fashion! Now don't get me wrong, I love RAFW, but I do think it turns everyone a little crazy... people who don't even follow fashion, somehow during this week become fashion experts and everyone tries to jump on board! I guess I can understand because the bright lights of fashion can tend to draw you in. Anyway, Monday started with a heavy line up of designers including Lisa Ho, Ginger and Smart, Camilla, Bec and Bridge and Aureilo Costarella. As well the designers with individual shows there some great up and coming designers in Ready to Wear group shows as well in the MCA Group Collection and Art Show including Carly Hunter, who I've had my eye on for a while, and Kylie Hawks who is always a favourite because of her UTS roots.
These are some of my favourite looks for day one.

I'm not including any from Lisa Ho because that has to be a post of its own, the collection was so close to my aesthetic I just cant stop looking at it.

Kat Macleod

Kat Macleod is an Australian fashion illustrator based in Melbourne and I love her work! Her style, as she describes it is 'messy, girly, layered and watercolourey'. She uses a mix of ink, crayon, pen and all sorts of found objects to collage and it all works together to create beautiful, quirky and fun illustrations that I want to be able to create myself! I have a little pack of cards which have cocktail recipes on them and she illustrated the front of all 50 cards so I've got a whole pack of inspiration! I wish she could illustrate all my looks for my collection in this style with little paper dresses and tiny fabric accessories, defiantly going to give it a try cause it fits in well with my feminine aesthetic.

The images are scanned from my cards so its hard to see the delicate detail she puts in the collage, but you still get the effect. check out the rest of her work at http://jackywinter.com/artists/kat-macleod
